General Information

Working with UV-curable products

UV-curable products (e.g. UV lacquers, UV adhesives, UV printing inks) usually consist of highly reactive,
polymerizable materials such as acrylates, methacrylates, styrene or epoxides. As a result of the high reactivity
these products often cause irritation to the skin, eyes and internal organs.

The following protective measures are therefore urgently required when handling such formulations:

  • In general, clean working conditions must be ensured at the workplace when handling UV-curable products!
In unclean conditions, residues of binders or monomers can get directly onto the skin or mucous membranes
    and cause irritation!
  • For this reason, it is also important to wear protective gloves and protective clothing (lab coat) when handling UV-curable products or, in particular, when cleaning machines or containers!
  • Safety goggles should be worn when handling UV-curable products!
  • Avoid eating and drinking when handling UV-curable products!
  • Many monomers are relatively volatile and often have an intense inherent odor. Therefore must always for good
Ventilation of the premises must be taken care of!
  • The storage of the reactive products should only be carried out in designated areas at temperatures between 10-25 °C
    respectively!
  • Containers with UV-curable products should not be heated excessively and opened containers should be protected from sunlight
    to be protected!
