UV curing formulations typically contain three groups of UV reactive materials:
In addition, the usual additives, fillers and pigments can of course also be used in UV coatings, UV printing inks and UV adhesives
and other components are used. These parts are usually not UV-reactive and therefore do not solidify
built into the polymer.
The monomers or crosslinkers are used to dissolve the binder, to adjust the viscosity and to crosslink the
UV system used.
The binders or oligomers are mainly for the final properties of the cured UV varnish, UV printing ink
or adhesive system responsible such. B. scratch resistance, flexibility, elasticity, adhesion to substrates etc..
The photoinitiators are the most important component of the above group; without them, nothing “works” in UV curing!
They react under UV radiation and split into reactive particles that initiate further polymerisation.
