UV adhesives

In the area of adhesives, UV technology has also made inroads.

A distinction is made between the following different UV adhesive types:

  • UV Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA)
  • DVD Adhesives
  • structural UV adhesives
  • UV laminating adhesives.

Looking at the adhesive volume, UV pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) are by far the largest in this list
group, followed by DVD adhesives, structural adhesives and laminating adhesives.

There are also three different types of curing for UV adhesives:

  • radically curing UV systems
  • cationically curing UV systems
  • Dual Cure Systems (2 curing mechanisms in one system)

When bonding two substrates, it is imperative to be careful when using radically curing UV adhesives
ensuring that at least one substrate is transparent to UV radiation; otherwise there is no or no sufficient
Curing takes place between the substrates!

When bonding two non-UV-transparent substrates, only cationic UV adhesives or the so-called
"Dual Cure UV adhesive systems" can be used during curing.
